2013: Looking forward

This might be the first year I didn't write down New Year's resolutions. I've been into writing lists since I was in elementary school, and every year I come up with enough resolutions that I should be a super hot super skilled babe by the next December. Of course I always fail since resolutions are usually just half thought out goals that have little follow through. I took a college course on motivation and the professor spent a class telling us what a waste of time most resolutions are unless you're prepared to actually turn them into real fleshed out goals. This class mainly reinforced what a hopeless procrastinator I am, even if I did make an A.

New Year's ToshiKoshi Soba.
So instead of resolutions or goals, I'm going to go even further down the totem pole and make vague statements of things I'd like to do this year.

-I want to develop a skill. I can't do anything really well. I haven't quite decided what this skill will be because I have a lot of things I want to do. If I could magically teach myself how to be artistic I would choose that.

-The list of skills could be one of the following: cooking a certain cuisine, knitting, writing, photography, editing said photography, learning how to sing enka.

-I met some really neat people last year. I want to develop those friendships further. I love my hubs, but I need girl time more often.

-Friends and Family back home reading this? We have skyped like twice last year. If we're going to stay friends, we need to do this more. FB doesn't fill those gaps enough.

-Be more consistent at blogging. My blog has grown a bit the last few months and I'd like to keep that as a trend. Unfortunately my most popular post right now is The Anime Girl and it's because that post keeps appearing in searches for "weird anime porn" "anime girl big boobs" or "how to look like an anime girl." Not joking, I get searches like that everyday. Those people must be incredibly disappointed when they read that post.

-start running again once this unholy winter goes away.

-stop wasting time on the internet. spend more time on real life and less time on FB.

-pass JLPT N4.

-finish that Zelda game I started like a year ago.

Those might look like resolutions, but I promise they aren't! The chances of me starting on them before April is slim anyway. I have a kotatsu which is the number destroyer of productivity in the winter. So here's to spring, summer, and fall 2013! I'm sure it will be wonderful. And for all those that read my blog thanks and I hope you'll stick with me this year!

I leave you with this random picture of a yuzu vanilla cupcake we made yesterday.

  3. If I could make a cupcake that beautiful, I would never make a new Year's resolution again
